Located in England’s West Midlands, Walsall is a huge industrial town. It lies on the east of Wolverhampton and northeast of Birmingham. Designed by Caruso St. John, it covers an area of 5,000 sq m. It houses the Garman Ryan Collection of modern paintings and sculptures, which include works by Jacob Epstein, Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Constable and Corot represented in sculptures, paintings, drawings, sketches, prints etc.
An archive of Epstein was acquired by the gallery in 2006, which comprised manuscripts, sketches, photographs and correspondence between the artist and his family and friends.
The gallery has a permanent collection which comprises Victorian paintings by artists Fiona Banner and Catherine Yass.
