Asasa is a small town that lies 2367 meters above sea level. Because of most of the lands are suited for farming, the town was selected as the site of an experimental farm funded by Chilalo Agricultural Development Union. It was also the location of a skill training school that teaches cottage industry like pot making to help local farmers augment their income as farming became impossible due to many political and religious conflicts within the area.

Most of the roads to and within the town are still dirt roads. Most become muddy during the monsoon season and it's very difficult to go to one place to another. However, after the rain, the vicinity around Asasa is filled with yellow and orange aloe. The sight is refreshing and equally amazing.
You'll see some homestead farms along Asasa area and you'll be completely amused to have closer look at rows of mud houses in neat mud enclosures. The sight is simply rural setting typical of an Ethiopian town.
