About Az Zagasig

Az Zagasig is a city in the region of Ash Sharqiyah. It is situated in the eastern portion of the Nile delta and one of the fertile areas along the Nile Delta.

The ruins of the Ancient Bubastis city are the main tourists' attraction of the city. The city used to be the home of ancient Egypt cat-goddess Bastet and the ruins of old temples built by Egyptians Pharoah Osorkon II and Nectanebo II still have the catacombs where the sacred cats were believed to have been buried. There are also other catacombs that date back to the time of Pepi I and each are part of Az Zagasig city tours.

The city’s skyline is with modern buildings housing the offices of European merchants that are mostly cotton and grain traders. The city serves as the cotton and grain center of Egypt. The town has reasonable road connections to other major cities in Egypt. From Cairo, there are several bus terminals that have routes to Az Zagasig like Ahmed Helmi Terminal. You can also take the bus heading to Bilbeis town but the trip may take longer.

You can enjoy much of the city with a car but it is cheaper to take the bus as city buses have routes around the city. From the city center, there are several luxury hotels and small hotels that are most of the times crowded with merchants from neighboring towns. Choose your hotel room far from the street as the city noise could make sleeping difficult. Hotels in Az Zagasig are not as good as those in the Metropolis of Cairo but good enough to stay while in Az Zigasig. There are also apartments for rent in the city for students in University of Zagasig and for tourists with cheap flights to Az Zagasig and have long-term stay in the city. There are no posh restaurants in the city but there are several small eating places where food is incredibly cheap.

For those yearning to learn Ancient Egypt, the small city's museum contains archaeological materials all dating back to Ancient Egypt civilizations.

While Az Zagasig may have its own series of domestic problems, it is still one of the best places to stay while in Egypt.
