If you decide to travel to Zandvoort, you must know some facts about this city located in the north part of Holland. Don’t expect to find a big city, but a small one, typical community in the Netherlands. Because of the German invasion of the Nederland’s and the occupation, in 1942 the resort was severed damaged by the Nazi plans to protect the beaches from potential invaders. The beach access was no longer permitted and the Atlantic Wall was built, almost all the avenues were destroyed to make way for the fortifications. After the Netherlands becomes free again, the tourism becomes more and more important in the area and resorts were rebuilt and many new ones can be found on the shores of the North Sea.
