1. Check the Sakura Tower

Budget travelers would love the view of the city free of charge when they head on to the Sakura Tower. They just need to buy a drink and be ready to have a glimpse of the best sights in Yangon. If you really have a good eye, you can be able to view the famous Sule and Shwedagon Pagodas.

2. Go see the Pagodas

Yangon is a home of magnificent pagodas that you won’t find on any other place. Aside from the famous 2, 600 year-old Shwedagon Pagoda, you can also find the “Golden Rock” or the Kyaikto Pagoda, the Botataung Paya, and the Sule Pagoda in the city.

3. Try the Circle Line

Go on a whirlwind journey for as low as 1USD via the Circle Line. This train is a cheap way to spend your day and see all of what Yangon has to offer. Wear comfy clothes and be prepared to sit with the natives and learn more of their daily routine. You can easily jump off when the train stops when you see something of interest and wait for the next train to come when your business is done.

4. Take a trip to the Bogyoke Aung San Market

If you love bargaining or just prefer cheap stuff then this market should be on your list. This old commercial spot houses thousands of stalls that sell clothes, jewels, local crafts, souvenirs, native food and many other things. Most of the vendors are accommodating and they are willing to compromise on the price if you know how to ask.

The Taukkyan War Cemetery, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue are also famous tourist spots in the city.

Moving around Yangon is easy if you ride the local bus. The trick though is to be alert and ready to run or jump inside once the bus stops nearby since it won’t stop for long.
