The name of the province, Yala is derived from a Malaysian term “Jala”, which means “Net”. Yala Province is found in the southern part of Thailand and it holds the highest peak in the Northern Titiwangsa Mountains, the Ulu Titi Basah. The Yala Province was originally a part of the Pattani province but Thailand had them separated.
