About Yala

Unlike the other provinces found in Thailand, the Yala Province is the only known landlocked province of Thailand. The name of the province, Yala is derived from a Malaysian term “Jala”, which means “Net”. Yala Province is found in the southern part of Thailand and it holds the highest peak in the Northern Titiwangsa Mountains, the Ulu Titi Basah. The Yala Province was originally a part of the Pattani province but Thailand had them separated. Yala Province is among the four provinces found in Thailand that has a large majority of people that practice the Muslim religion. Yala used to be a mining province, as it had tin and tungsten core. Being a landlocked province, Yala does not have beaches or floating markets like the other provinces of Thailand, but it does have wonder sights that tourists find captivating. Since the province has a large majority of Muslim residents, one of its other attractions is the Yala Central Mosque. The Mosque is regarded by its beautiful architectural style. The front of the mosque is made of wide steps, almost thirty in counting and leads to a terrace in the mosque. One of its natural attractions is the Bala-Hala Forest. The Bala-Hala Forest shows and is home to a diversity of birds; it is rainforest that is made of a range of different plants and wildlife.
