Tourists in Vicenza flock to Palazzo della Ragione, a huge structure located at Piazza dei Signori, the main square of this city. It is an early work of Palladio and so has more of a Venetian Gothic style rather than his characteristic neoclassical style. Another impressive structure is Loggia del Capitanio, another work of the sculptor which has red brick. It presents a stark architectural contrast to Basilica Palladiana.
Teatro Olimpico regarded as a Palladio masterpiece is one of the world’s ancient enclosed theaters. The wooden statues and stone carvings make it a visual treat. Two other notable edifices in Vicenza are Chiesa di Santa Corona and Palazzo Leoni Montanari. The latter has a range of paintings of Pietro Longhi. Another great creation of the sculptor Palazzo Thiene has been turned into a bank and the building interiors have undergone changes for this.
