Tokushima-shi or simply Tokushima is a transport central in Shikoku. From here, you can get to different parts of the island. However, it is not proper to just run over the capital city of the Tokushima Prefecture because it has also kept some worthwhile attractions in its midst. Any kind of tourist would surely love to discover something while they are getting ready for exploring a bigger world.
There are cheap flights to Tokushima-shi that lands and takes off at the Tokushima Airport. Although small, this airport in the north of the city should not be underrated. It serves daily flights to and from Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Tokyo.
From the airport, you can take a bus service to arrive at the downtown. Once there, you can start exploring either on foot or through a bicycle, which are both cost-effective. The Tokushima city center is small enough to be covered without having to use some gas, so take advantage of this. Attending the actual Awa Odori Festival, held every August 12-15, is also a great reason to take cheap flights to Tokushima-shi. For over four centuries, people participate in the dancing in the streets on complicated choreography. Hotels in Tokushima-shi are usually packed during this time so make sure to book early.
