About Tak

One of the famous, if not the most tourist activities available in Tak is having a holiday by the river. Yes, this humble town located in the bottom north of Thailand has been gifted with raw natural beauty. None of those treks and park explorations and white water rafting adventure could compare, however, to the experience of having a lazy day by the riverside.

You can do a lot of things by the river of Tak. You can have a picnic, watch the sunrise or the sunset, or just look around. People-watching is a great activity that will help you observe how the locals go about their daily lives. Some, tourists and locals alike, lacking for a better place to unwind, also come around at night at the riverside to have a few beers and a conversation. True enough, this holiday by the river already make it worthy to take cheap flights to Tak.

If you have more time to spare and you want to get out of the comforts of the scenic beauty by the river, you may get around the city for more adventures. Tak is considerably small and you will not have to spend on transport to be able to get around. The town center is great for a walking tour. If you want to see through the pristine nature that the town has to offer, you may want to look for a samlor or a tuk tuk operator and ask them to bring you to any of the amazing locations within town. Some of the must-visit sites include the national parks of Namtok Pha Charoen, Mae Moei, Lan Sang, and that of Taksin Maharat. If white water rafting is your brand of fun, check out Namtok Thi Lo Re and also Namtok Thi Lo Su, they are known as the most beautiful waterfalls with a pretty challenging white water rafting terrain.

There are no direct cheap flights to Tak. If you want to come over, you will have to take the route to Bangkok. From Bangkok, you have to endure at least five hours of road travel to Phitsanulok and then another train ride that is 80 kilometers long to Tak. Once there, you will also not find too many choices for a place to stay. Tourism is not yet considered major livelihood in town. So hotels in Tak are quite numbered.
