Tacurong is a city located in the Philippine province of Sultan Kudarat. It is situated in the central portion of Mindanao, a rich and fertile island in southern Philippines. Through the years, the city has been a busy crossover point for travelers and missionaries on their way to the rest of Mindanao. Many cheap flights to Tacurong as a stopover point are scheduled on a daily basis, especially from Tacurong’s neighboring cities in Mindanao such as Cotabato City, Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, and General Santos City. Numerous transients and passengers come from these major cities.
The biggest tourist draw in Tacurong is the Baras Bird Sanctuary in Purok San Francisco in the district of Baras. This 1.3-hectare man-made ecological preserve is home to 20,000 migratory birds. It is natural habitat especially to cattle egrets and black crowned night herons. This bird haven is just a few kilometers off Tacurong’s national highway, and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is accessible via any form of land transportation. Tacurong is also the site of vast tracts of palm oil plantations, especially in the villages of Grino, EJC Montilla, and New Passi. The Southern Philippine Grains Complex, the largest grains facility in Asia, is also located in Tacurong City.
Hotels in Tacurong are stylish, comfortable, and affordable. The two most popular hotels that have gained favorable reviews from both leisure and business travelers are the Green State Suites along Jose Abad Santos Street and the Beldent Star Hotel & Restaurant on Ledesma Street. Another popular stopover accommodation is the Ramona Plaza Hotel found along General Paulino Santos Drive in nearby Koronadal City.
Tacurong is navigable via very cheap transport. One can just avail of these types of transportation to save money. Because it is strategically located, Tacurong City is serviced by five major bus lines within the city, as well as to and from the neighboring cities and towns. Aside from the cheap flights to Tacurong, there are also inexpensive air-conditioned jeepneys and vans that shuttle passengers to and from the city. Within the city proper, the cheapest and most common form of transportation is the pedicab tricycle. There are about 2,000 units plying all sorts of routes within the city.
