The best thing that you can enjoy here in Sumpango is the Kite Festival held during the 31st of October to 1st of November every year. During this festival, giant kites soar up the sky and these kites are intricately designed by the locals expressing some messages and opinions of the people for the governing bodies. The place where are the kites are flied is on their holy hill that oversees the cemetery. Being a festival, you can expect singing, dancing and local food in this place. As a precaution, do not go near the station where the kites are starting to lift up. Because the kites are about 6 meters in both height and width, you have to ensure your safety. In their local language, the festival is called Festival de Sumpango, Barilletas Gigantes.
