Its chief attractions include a fishing lake, a boating lake, a paddling pool, a wildlife centre, a duck pond etc. It also hosts events like Flower Festival, Ordnance Survey Balloon and Power in the Park.

Just five minutes away on foot, there is the Mayflower Theatre, where opera, ballet and musical performances are held. Another theatre that is worth a visit is the Ganty Arts Centre where you can see live comedy, theatrical and musical shows.
Located in the city centre, the Bargate was built in the Norman times as part of the fortified city. In the earlier days, Bargate was the main entry and exit point to and from the north of England. Hence, it served as the main gateway to Southampton. It is a scheduled monument and a Grade I listed building.
