Cheap Flights to Sidi Bel Abbes

Algeria is a well know tourist destination due to its very rich history. The cultural landscape is made even more interesting when the French came to colonize it. Sidi Bel Abbès, the capital of a province in Algeria, was named after a Muslim holy man who was supposed to have been buried in the area. It became a military outpost during the French regime in the 1800's but is now a commercial center and agricultural town. It is quite popular for its farm areas with sprawling orchards and vineyards. The closest airport here is in Oran so booking cheap flights to Sidi Bel Abbès is very easy.

This was once the location of the Legion Museum but after the Algerian Independence in the 1960's, this was moved to France. The walls were destroyed and very little of what was left of it is visible in the area. This is not really a tourist destination but you can visit several towns beside it. Oran, for instance, has numerous tourist destinations like the Bey’s Palace which is the home of the a 14th century sultan. This is also called the Chateau Neuf or the New Castle, although that is a misnomer according to the locals. The very elegant Pasha’s Mosque is also a great place to visit. If you want a great dining experience, one of the most famous restaurants in Algeria, Le Corsaire, is located here, too. The Musée National Ahmed Zabana is a favorite among vacationers.

Because this is quite close to the Mediterranean, it is a famous stopover of sorts. There are several hotels in Sidi Bel Abbès but if you are going to stay here for a week or so, it would be better to choose vacation villas instead. These are way cheaper and you get to feel more at home. However, more people prefer to stay in Oran and then drive to this town for sight-seeing and shopping. Barley and grapes are the most popular local produce.

The town is connected to other major cities in the country by a railroad but it is better to get cheap flights to Sidi Bel Abbès instead. The closest airport is Es Senia, located in Oran, about 80 kilometers (an hour or so) away from the center of this commercial town.
