Sayama, which is known as Irumagawa before, is a small city in the Saitama Prefecture of the northern Kanto Region in the Honshu Island. The prefecture itself makes up a portion of the greater Tokyo area. The city is relatively small, about 49 square kilometers in area and the surrounded by the cities if Hidaka, Hanno, Iruma, Tokorozawa and Kawagoe. The city is known for having a car assembly plant of the giant car manufacturer, Honda. If you are familiar with Lotte candy, they have a facility here. The River of Iruma runs all over the city. The name Sayama means “Sitting on a Mountain”.
As a foreigner visitor, your main point of entry going to the prefecture and the city of Sayama is through the Tokyo Narita International Airport of the Haneda Airport. Since your airport is the main airport in Japan, it is fairly easy to find cheap flights to Sayama via Narita or Haneda from carriers such as JAL and ANA as well as other international carriers. From Narita, you have to take the trains and bus services that will stop at Iriso Station, Shin – Sayama Station, Sayamashi Station and Inariyama-koen Station.
