The Satu Mare County Museum has several interesting sections catering to history and art. The museum building, constructed in 1936, is built in the characteristically Romanian architectural style of the 1940's; the impressive edifice has five facades.

Thirty mile away from the city is the Land of Oas where each spring, the villagers and farmers gather together to celebrate the festival of Sambra Oilor, a traditional festival marking the departure of the shepherds to the mountains; this now has been transformed into a major folk festival.
