If you’ve visited all the famous cruising destinations in Bahamas and want to settle to a less populated spot for a day or two then it’s time to consider visiting Rock Sound, a little less popular and a bit neglected cruising destination located at the Southern Eleuthera. The place is being served by the Rock Sound International Airport and thus cheap flights to Rock Sound are not a problem.
During the early 70’s, Rock Sound is a favorite destination of many foreign celebrities because of its secluded community and very private beach resorts but slowly became neglected with the rise of many different beach resorts in the island. Despite being somewhat overlooked and quiet for a long time now, the district remains standing, waiting patiently for another flock of tourist to take cheap flights to Rock Sound and bring noise and life to the place.
Once you decide to cruise at the Rock Sound you can easily dock at the Dingle Motors, a welcoming place owned and managed by the Cates family. Chris, the owner of the Dingle Motors, make sure that every visitor who will dare cruise at the Rock Sound will feel welcome and at home. He’s also offering the free use of the dock and the nearby waterfront picnic area.
Rock Sound is not an expensive place, the staples like food, bread, liquor and groceries are available at the town center and even the gas is cheap. The restaurants in town like Sammy’s, Tiki Bar and Four Points Restaurant also serve sumptuous Bahamian cuisines and other American specialties.
Though not a famous tourist destination, visitors can still find good hotels in Rock Sound and nearby places. The Cape Eleuthera Resort and Yacht Club for example is a nice quiet place featuring clean rooms and picturesque view of the beach. This 4-star hotel resort is one of the best in Rock Sound with complete facilities ensuring utmost comfort for everyone. Those looking for private cottages overlooking the pink beach sand can have their fill at the Northside Inn which is just a 10-minute drive from the airport. The Rock Sound Club in Queens Highway is also a good place to stay in Rock Sound.
