Cheap flights to Riobamba will allow you to familiarize yourself with the 'Sultan of the Andes,' located in central Ecuador. Riobamba is Ecuador's third largest city, and only about 100 miles or so away from Quito, Ecuador's capital. It's a city with a lot of older, colonial charm, including market places, colonial era buildings, museums and churches. If you're interested in exploring Riobamba, or just want to head to Riobamba on its largest market day, on Saturday, then come and explore this friendly city. Purchase cheap tickets to Riobamba and start exploring this Central Ecuadorian treasure.
With cheap flights to Riobamba you can come and explore one of the many markets in Riobamba, to buy a variety of handmade crafts and woven goods, such as ponchos, blankets, sweaters, etc. This is the market where thousands of people come every week in order to buy, sell and trade, with everything from animals to butter being traded. It's the perfect place to come, get a feel for the local flavor, and maybe pick up a carved tagua nut as a souvenir. Another market that's well loved is the Guamote market, in which the native Quechua people come on Thursdays to sell their handmade wares and homemade food. The Quechua people are very kind and friendly, and it's a wonderful multicultural experience. Yet another place to go shopping is in Parque de la Concepcion, where they sell all sorts of beautiful handmade goods such as tagua nut carvings, woven straw mats and baskets. It's probably your best bet in town besides the Guamote market to get something beautiful, authentic and handmade on your trip to Riobamba. For hotels in Riobamba, be prepared that most tourists will probably try to come for market day, and that Saturday will probably be the busiest (and priciest) day to reserve. That's why there's Flighthub though! Flighthub offers the cheapest flights to Riobamba, as well as hotels in Riobamba, to give you added savings and more money in your wallet for market day.
Another must in Riobamba is the Devil's Nose train, which was built in 1902. At the time it was considered a true marvel of engineering. Now it can be considered to be a beautiful trip through winding mountains, with lovely scenery as well as drops and lots of twists and turns. The train stops for an hour and a half where you can buy souvenirs, watch an ethnic dance (for a fee of course,) and pay for a picture for a llama. It's fun for kids but there's not all that much on the stop. It's still a fun ride, if you like trains and enjoy mountain scenery. With airline tickets to Riobamba, you can experience the Devil's Nose train and the lovely mountain views.
