Rangpur is one of the major cities of Bangladesh. It is located in the northwestern part of the country and is considered as the center of the region. The city is subdivided into eight districts. During the 90’s, it was difficult for the people to move forward with economic developments since flooding regularly menaces the city. This structure was erected to block the water from entering the city.
Situated at the eastern side of Hunuman-tola Road beside police-line is the Rangpur Central Zoo. A good number of wild animals in Bangladesh are found in here. These include the black panther, hippopotamus, African lion, the famous Bengal tiger, rhinoceros, leopard, spotted deer and a wide variety of birds.
Rangpur comprise of two main shopping centers in Rangpur. The older Municipal Super Market is where you can buy authentic Rangpur-made carpets, woven fabric and other souvenirs. Jahaj Company Shopping Complex is a modern building that houses the only escalator in the city.
