The Portuguese town of Pinhal Novo is located in Setubal Peninsula and is barely 20 minutes from the capital city of Lisbon. People taking cheap flights to Pinhal Novo will find it extremely easy to travel to and from this town as it is well connected with Lisbon through two highways as well as a new train station that connects the subway network of Lisbon directly. Tourists taking cheap flights to Pinhal Novo visit the Arrabida National Park which is located quite nearby. In fact, those who opt to stay at any of the hotels in Pinhal Novo can take advantage of the nearby shopping centers.
At one point, the town had the country’s largest vineyards and was the toast of wine connoisseurs. Pinhal Novo may give some surprise to visitors who think that after Lisbon, there is little to see in this comparatively small place. Tourists can start their tour by going to the town center first and taking a walk through Largo Jose Maria dos Santos and the downtown streets. The former is a broad area which was used as the venue for livestock fair and market. Now, it has a train station, a central park housing the church and the gazebo. The station has interesting tile panels from 1938 with landscapes portrayed there.
Those who visit the place on the month’s second Sunday should grab the opportunity to do some shopping. This time is the functioning time of one of the region’s busiest markets. After that, the Rio Frio estate can be visited which is amongst Portugal’s largest estates. The beautiful Palace of Rio Frio, now converted to Tourism Rural, is the one to look out for. The museum reserving the blacksmith’s workshop should be visited as well.
Many people love to be in sync with nature while on vacation; for them, Rio Frio is like a green corridor. Places to visit are the Capuchin Convent with various footpaths that can be taken to enjoy a beautiful nature work, Tagus Estuary Natural Park’s Sado Estuary Nature Reserve. The dams of Frio River are where many people indulge in various water sports and can do some fishing as well. Those who love horses can go to the Equestrian Centre for some horseback riding.
