About Pesaro

Located in Italy’s Le Marche region, Pesaro is a seaside town on the beautiful Adriatic coast that has plenty of attractions for tourists exploring the country. At first glance, you may feel it is like any other Italian seaside destination which is ideal for a family trip. However, as you explore inland, the medieval roots of the town become evident.

To reach Pesaro, you can choose either Rimini or Ancona airport. Both the airports are served by budget flights from the UK and so availability of cheap flights to Pesaro will not be an issue. It also has excellent rail and bus connectivity.

The Piazza del Popolo is what you should start your Pesaro tour with. It houses the majestic Palazzo Ducale which has a 15th century origin. The town Cathedral is a brilliant instance of Romanesque Gothic architecture. It is built on the site of two older churches, as revealed by several excavations.

Noted composer Gioachino Rossini was a native of Pesaro and his house remains one of the major tourist spots of the place. To honor his memory, every year, Rossini Opera Festival is held during summer. The house of the composer has been converted into a museum named Casa Rossini. Apart from it, you should also see other museums in the city including The Musei Civici which houses an art gallery and a ceramics museum. The latter has some of the most exotic samples of pottery workshops dating back to the Renaissance era. The Museo Oliveriano also attracts footfalls owing to its archaeological exhibits.

There are many other places in and around Pesaro that tourists like to explore. The Parco Miralfiore, a public park and two historic villas outside town, namely Villa Imperiale and Villa Caprile, are crowd pullers. The Piazzale della Libertà offers you a nice view of the seaside promenade. The natural beauty of the coastline, the museums and edifices along with cheap flights to Pesaro make it a worthy contender to be included in your Italy trip.

In Pesaro, you can find nearly all types of accommodations. However, pick from hotels in Pesaro close to the city center if the heritage places are more important to you than the seaside.
