The Portuguese parish of Paço de Arcos is located in Oeiras. The name is taken from the Palace of Arches that is situated at the town’s entrance while coming from Lisbon. It is in this palace that the Portuguese king D. Manuel I used to watch the caravels of Vasco da Gama leaving for India.
