Oudenaarde is a beautiful city in East Flanders, a Belgian province. It is situated about 25 km towards the south of Ghent, a Belgian city, on River Scheldt’s banks. The World War I Audenarde American Monument is a golden-yellow limestone monument, prominently displaying the US shield flanked by a couple of stone eagles. It was constructed in the memory of all the 40,000 brave American soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the service to the nation during the months of October and November in the year 1918.
MOU, the Museum of Oudenaarde, and the Flemish Ardennes retrace the history of the region. Through the use of interactive media and some unique historical objects, the history of the town and its people are narrated to visitors from events in the Middle Ages till today.
