Covering an area of 200 sq km, the AONB or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty forms the highest part of the hills, which is protected as a National Park.

Ramblers will find Dolebury Hill-fort particularly interesting. Surrounded by grassland, the hill-fort belongs to the Iron Age. It is located adjacent to Blackmoor Reserve, a lead mining region.

If you like to view wild life, do not miss visiting Chew Valley, Black Down, Burrington Ham and Roberrow Forest.

Bath is a Georgian city located near Mendip. The city is distinctive for its innumerable grand Bath stone structures that line the city streets.
