A local government district in Somerset, Mendip is primarily a rural region covering an area of 285 sq miles. Covering an area of 200 sq km, the AONB or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty forms the highest part of the hills, which is protected as a National Park.

Ramblers will find Dolebury Hill-fort particularly interesting. Surrounded by grassland, the hill-fort belongs to the Iron Age. It is located adjacent to Blackmoor Reserve, a lead mining region.

If you like to view wild life, do not miss visiting Chew Valley, Black Down, Burrington Ham and Roberrow Forest.

Bath is a Georgian city located near Mendip. The city is distinctive for its innumerable grand Bath stone structures that line the city streets.
