About Lupeni

Lupeni, situated on the West Jiu River, is a mining city in the beautiful Jiu Valley that attracts tourists from all over the world for its incredibly scenic countryside that features mountain landscapes, dense forests, glacial lakes, botanical reserves and plenty of opportunities for winter sports with its proximity to the Straja ski resort. While it is easily accessible by road, cheap flights to Lupeni have considerably increased its popularity.

The Straja ski complex is situated at an altitude of 1400 m and has a long season with snow present from December right up to April; the average temperature in the whole year remains a chilly 2 degree centigrade.
