About Lipa

If you plan to visit the Philippines, you have to spend few days touring Lipa City. This city is one of the first class cities in the province of Batangas. The city is about 78 kilometers from Metro Manila and is located in central Batangas, which is part of the Region IV A of the Luzon Island of Philippines. The city is a valley between Mt. Makulot and Mt. Malarayat. The city is known as the hub for education, recreation, industrial, religious and commercial in the province. The name of the city came from a tree species belonging to the urticaceae family called lipa.

Your main point of entry as a foreign tourist is the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. From the airport, you have to take the taxi that will bring you to the bus terminal in Taft Avenue, a few kilometers away from the airport. Taxis drivers know the bus terminals going to Lipa City in Taft Avenue, so just say that you are going to the bus terminal going to Lipa. Taking the provincial bus is much cheaper than hiring a taxi since you will go past South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). You can get around Lipa City using the jeepneys, tricycles or by renting a car. You can walk around the town proper. If you find a hotel around or near the famous Taal Lake, you are in luck, because you are walking distance away to most resorts and have a great view of the lake within a volcano that is also within a bigger volcano. This will be your first tourist destination, to enjoy the view of Taal Lake and the surrounding areas.
