About Kuantan

Malaysia has a tourist slogan or Truly Asia and this is one of the best slogans out there. One of the places aside from Kuala Lumpur that you should visit is Kuantan. This city serves as state capital of Pahang located on the eastern coastal part of the peninsular part of the country. In this city, you can visit and tour the charming nature integrated with the pre and post-colonial culture and traditions of Malaysia. Here, you can see the blend of modern buildings with the ancient temples and mosques. You should also experience the lively and vibrant night life here in Kuantan wherein you will surely enjoy the food and what Malaysia and the locals can offer.

Getting around the city is not that good as the public transportation system is relatively poor in comparison to Kuala Lumpur. If you take the buses, expect that your time will be consumed on the road. It may be a little bit expensive, but it is better for you to hire a taxi or rent a car so that you can have a great sightseeing and touring experience.

Being close to the coastal area, Kuantan is one of the great places in Malaysia to enjoy a beach vacation. There are several beaches in this place and here are some of them:

    • Teluk Chempedak is located around 5 km in the northeastern part of Kuantan.

    • Beserah is roughly 7 km away from the Kuantan city proper. You can also enjoy the seafood here at very affordable price.

    • Balok is a beach that is roughly 13 km away from the city and popular for its wind surfing.

    • Batu Hitam is known for having dark stones naturally.

Aside from beaches, there are other places to go to in this city that you will surely enjoy such as Taman Teruntum, which is a small Zoo and located nearby the Taman Teruntum. This place is just next to the Kuantan golf course. The Pulau Ular is an island full of great sightseeing scenery and nature. You may also want to know its story from the locals. The Sungai Lembing is a town known for largest underground tin mines in the world. Of course, it is closed now. Enjoy the Tin Museum with hanging bridge.
