Haiko has a long coastline as the city has the Nandu River Sea on its three sides. Its name means Mouth of the Sea. Blessed with sunshine, clear water and soft sand, Haiko competes with the world's best beaches destinations.
The Holiday Beach in Qinglin Road offers sparkling waters, plenty of sunshine, blue skies and swaying coconut trees. The beach is unlike many worlds’ beaches that only offer the same beach experience, Holiday beach has the very unique Kissing Fish. It is the main attraction of the beach which provides the unique but delightful underwater skin-cleansing care as the fish nibble at your body or feet. It may look weird but the experience has been attracting many beach lovers from all over the world. The admission fee is CNY 20. If you don't have a rented car, you can take the sightseeing bus no.6 or tourist bus number 1 and 2 to reach the beach. If you are on a tight budget, you can take the public bus. You don't have to buy tickets as public buses issue ticket according to your destination and stops. From Haiko, buses are loaded to ferry boats to connect to different cities and provinces. Fare cost is calculated to duration or hours of journey. Ten hours journey cost around 290 CNY.
The Xixiu Beach offers the best sunset while in Haikou. The beach is close to Haikou Xiuying Harbor. The beach also offers best windsurfing and sailing experience. It is common to see the water crowded with yachts and sailing boats. Sailing and windsurfing enthusiast will have a plenty of time to enjoy the wind and the water as the beach is the training and practice ground of China's National Sailing and Windsurfing Team. To get to the beach, you can take the public buses. However, if you want to enjoy the ride, it is better to hire a car. Public buses routes are mostly crowded and traffic is somewhat heavy. By private car, you can take the highways and skip the traffic jam. Car hire companies charge appropriate price and you save money as taking the public bus may lead to losing your way around the city.
There are also public beaches in Haikuo but they're mostly crowded with the locals especially during holidays. But if you want to mix with the locals, public beaches are abundant around the city.
