Giurgiu, situated in Greater Wallachia, is the capital of Giurgiu County. The beautiful casa Stone palace is located in Herasti; the Druganescu Mansion dating back to 1715 now serves as the museum of ethnography and folk art. The Museum Dacia is an important repository of the region’s archaeological artifacts and is truly a history-buff’s delight. The French Monument, inaugurated in 1922, serves to commemorate the Danube French Army that liberated Giurgiu in 1918.
