Geel is a beautiful Belgian city situated in the famous province of Antwerp. Its patron saint, Saint Dymphna, encouraged the town’s innovative method of treatment and care for psychiatric patients. This enchanting city featured in the popular novel ‘Shamrock Tea’ by famous writer Ciarán Carson. The Antwerp International Airport is the nearest airport to Geel and is only 43 km from its center.

Lommel German Military Cemetery is situated about 30 km northwest of Geel and is the resting ground for German soldiers who lost their lives in Belgium at the time of World War II. 541 soldiers from World War I are also buried here along with some Polish soldiers who died fighting in World War II. The Geel War Cemetery is situated in the eastern part of the city and 400 Commonwealth soldiers who lost their lives in World War II lay buried here.
The breathtaking beauty of a field of orchids or the hundred year-old linden tree leaves tourists spellbound.
