About Franceville

Franceville is ranked the 4th largest metropolis in Gabon. It lies along R. Mpassa and has an average population of 56,000 people. The city started out as a village called Masuku, it was used by French colonialists to resettle freed slaves. Nevertheless, as the numbers increased so did economic activities thus it was renamed to Franceville and given a town status.
