Cheap Flights to Finote Salem

Finote Selam is a town in Ethiopia whose population is dominantly practicing Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. The town is a separate woreda meaning ruled by a local government and located in Mirab Gojiam Zone under Amhara Region. There was a story that Emperor Haile Selassie came and passed by this small town when he returned from exile and was warmly welcomed by the people thus he addressed the town as "the Road to peace" or finote salem. The name stuck and the town became Finote Salem.

The mini bus is the common and cheapest public transport in getting in and around Finote Selam. There is also the motorbike taxi but they charge higher than what you would pay for the bus ticket for same length of journey. Take the bus instead and pay cheaper fare tickets. Finote Salem main roads are paved roads while the inner areas still have the dirt roads that are dusty during summer and muddy during the wet monsoon season.

There are some good restaurants in the town's center offering Fonete Salem attraction, Shiny Cloud Juice. It is made of hand- squeezed orange juice with bourbon cream. Other famous Finote Salem drinks include avocado juice, mango and hand-squeezed pineapple.

Most travelers stop at Finote Salem before heading to Addis Ababa and hotels in Finote Salem offer them a good place to stay while taking a rest day. If you are after some good place to sleep over before heading to Addis Ababa attractions, Damot Hotel in Finote Salem is the best place to go. It offers good food and services for a lower rate.

There are no direct cheap flights to Finote Salem but most are directed to Addis Ababa Airport. From Addis Ababa, those who avail cheap flights to Finote Salem have to cross the Nile Gorge which is 4,000 feet deep with a beautiful river flowing to the Nile. Travel time is approximately about 2 hours.

Finote Salem is a peaceful town and with new buildings and infrastructures being built, it will soon join its neighboring towns in tapping its tourism potentials and stand a chance to be among Ethiopia’s tourist’s destinations.
