Evergem is a beautiful municipality situated in East Flanders, a Belgian province. The Antwerp International Airport is closest to it about 66 km from its center. Sint Salvador Cathedral is a popular tourist destination. It has gone through several alterations and renovations. This church was not constructed originally to be a cathedral. Sint-Salvator was originally a parish church that was bestowed the status of a cathedral in the 19th century. The Sint-Salvator Cathedral presently houses several invaluable masterpieces of art. The stunning wall-carpets adorning the interiors were created by Jasper van der Borcht in the year 1731. The choir still has the original podium that dates back to the 16th century.
