The endasilasie (alternative spelling: endasilasie) which means ‘House of the Trinity’ is also known as Shire. This is a woreda or a town located in the northern part of Ethiopia. It is considered the government center of Semien Mi'irabawi Zone in the region of Tigray. Getting cheap flights to endasilasie is very easy to do.

The town has had a very long history of wars and battles. It was involved in the 2nd Italo-Abyssinian War in 1936 and, quite recently, at the Battle of Abafet which occurred in 1988. Because of these events, one can still see a lot of war relics in town. And that is why a lot of vacationers come to this place.

The Axum Obelisk is a 78-foot, 16-tonne obelisk made of granite that is nearly 2,000 years old. It features two false doors at the bottom part and windows going up to its peak. At one point in time before the Second World War erupted, Italy brought this back to Rome to signify their new conquest – Ethiopia. Thankfully, it was returned to its home in 2005 and it is now standing in the area for tourists from all over the world to see. King Ezana’s Stele is another obelisk-looking structure found in the ancient city of Axum. Although there are over a dozen others in the locale, this is the only unbroken one. It is called a steel, rather than an obelisk, because the tip is not triangular but is square.

There are a few good hotels in endasilasie although some of the people who have been here suggest that it is better to check in smaller bed and breakfasts. You don’t get five-star amenities or late night room service, naturally, but you really get good value for money.

Two new roads have been built to connect this woreda to its neighboring towns so today, transportation from, to and within the area is easier and more convenient. But you don’t really want the stress of land travel so you will be glad to know that there are cheap flights to endasilasie available – thanks to the airport right in the town. That is the best option since Addis Ababa is over a thousand kilometers (13 hours’ travel) away from the town center.
