India, being a very large country has numerous tourist spots. However, some cities are not considered as this probably because they have fewer architectural structures from way back when or are not considered as an economic hub. Dewas in Malwa Plateau, found in Madya Pradesh state is one such city. Although Bhopal and Indore are bigger commercial zones in this region, Dewas is slowing following suit. Because of that, no cheap flights to Dewas can be bought as of the moment.
One will not realize the fact that Dewas has a very opulent history because of its rapid urbanization. However, during the reign of the British Raj, this city has been the seat of two princely states in Madya Pradesh. Nowadays, remnants of that splendid past are hardly visible in the city. However, it is of no matter to its citizens; Dewas is the soya capital of India. It has several secondary and tertiary schools. Sadly, it is not considered as an educational hub either. However, one will be surprised to see the variety of schools in terms of its religious affiliation. There is the St. Mary’s Convent S.S., which is a school run by Franciscan sisters and the Holy Trinity School.
There are some notable places in the area, though. One is the Maa Chamunda Mandir, a Hindu temple for Shakti devotees. People from all over India visit this temple every year to worship. They also have their version of the Holy River. Interestingly, the River Kshipra flows to the Ganges. Since this is not really a tourist destination, there are very few hotels in Dewas. The three most notable are the Hotel Sagar, Hotel Shri Kedapati and Utsay Hotel.
Since one can go on a train very easily in India, it would be nice to plan and visit the nearby city towns of Indore, which is only 40 minutes away, or Bhopal, a place two and a half hours away. In Indore, for example, tourists have so many more sights to see and things to do. Khajrana Ganesh, Annapurna Temple, Rajwada Indore, and Patalpani Waterfalls are just four of the frequently visited. A few 5- and 4-star hotels can be found in Indore, too. As mentioned, there are no cheap flights to Dewas. The nearest airport is located in Indore.
