About Desouk

One of the most visited places in the whole world is Egypt. Despite acquiescing to modernization like the rest of the world, the people here were able to preserve their heritage and, more importantly, their incredible historical structures. You can buy cheap flights to Desouk which lands on the closest airport located in Alexandria.

This town, which lies on the riverbank of the great Nile River, is primarily a Muslim town because of countless Islamic shrines which could be found here. One of the most famous is the tomb of Ibrahim El-Desouki, a thirteenth century Muslim saint. The nearby mosque, which is surprisingly large and grand, also invites thousands of people during haj. The garden right in front is a great respite from the heat of the city. Desouk’s steel bridge is also a wonderful sight to see. This 600-meter structure was built in the ‘20s and is the primary rail line going into the town.

Yamit Water Park is a huge resort often visited by locals during weekends and holidays. They boast of high water slides, tubes, enormous pools and manmade waterfalls. You could also enjoy one of five different Jacuzzis and saunas. They even have a balcony made particularly for those who would like to go home with a nice, Mediterranean tan.

Since this is a well-known tourist spot, finding good, economy hotels in Desouk won’t be difficult. Some people prefer to stay in Alexandria, though, since it is way more convenient being in a larger, more well-known city. You will find that a day trip to Desouk won’t be enough, though. Dining here will surely be a great experience as well. El Saidy Patisserie and El Askary are two of the best restaurants in town.

Because the closest airport is El Nohza in Alexandria, only 80 kilometers away, booking cheap flights to Desouk won’t be a problem at all. Local tour guides suggest foreign visitors take the train instead since it is cheaper. But if you are looking for comfort and convenience, it would be better to get a rental instead and drive yourself to the city.
