About Dembi Dolo

Dembi Dollo is one of the oldest cities in Ethiopia and aslo one of the richest cities with its huge productions of coffee, sesame oil seeds and live stocks and farm products. It is located in the southwestern portion of Ethiopia and serves as the capital of Kelem Welega in the Oromia region and formerly known as Sayo.

There are several government infrastructures in the city and several projects are ongoing like the reconstruction of Dembi Dolo unpaved roads to Asphalt roads to minimize travel time to Dembi Dolo. The usual travel time to reach Dembi Dolo is about 8 hours via the Route 5 and with the upgrading of the Dembi Dolo -Nejo Road, the travel time from the city to Addis Ababa will be cut to six hours. The bus is the cheapest transportation for getting in and around the city but taking the Sky Bus which has routes to Dembi Dolo will dramatically cut your travel time.

Hotels in Dembi Dolo are located near Dembi Dolo airport that was closed as an effort to break any resistance seeds in the area.
