Start your city tour by going to the Santa Maria De La Asuncion Church. The church was originally built in 13th century, but twice it was destroyed by fire and war. Finally, it was rebuilt in the year 1939, following Gothic style of architecture. The church is famous for its artwork and the bell tower named El Fadri. Inside the church, you can see an original Ribalta painting and a Vergara carving.
To see some work of art, you can go to the Museum of Fine Arts. The items on display are mostly found in the province and the most breathtaking of them all is the Ceramic collection. There are more than 1000 artwork in ceramic. The painting and sculpture sections are also very rich, featuring the works of Ribera, Ribalta, Romero de Torres, Rodrigo de Mongrell, Sorolla, Puig Roda, Osona,Porcar, Viciano, Adsuara, Benlliure, Gandarias and Vicent.
There are several beaches in the town, but tourists mainly visit Gurugu, El Pinar Beach and El Serradal. Gurugu is a very tidy beach and it’s a great place to play beach sports. El Pinar is a good place to swim and relax. While El Serradal is calmer than these two beaches, the quality of sand may not suit everyone’s taste as it is very coarse in nature.
