There is no doubt that the most famous city in all of Morocco is Casablanca. Honestly, if you haven’t seen that Hollywood classic, you’re missing out on a lot. Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart may have introduced this place to the world but those who have been here fall in love with it because of its old world charm and beauty. Cheap flights to Casablanca are available via the Mohammed V International Airport.
The mosque of King Hassan II is one of the largest in the whole world. Fortunately, for tourists, this welcomes non-Moslems, too. You should also see the Sidi Abderrahman shrine and the Mahkama du Pacha which has a distinct Spanish influence. The Corniche is a seaside resort area with various restaurants, cafés, bars and even nightclubs. It even has a movie theater. Like other places in Morocco, Casablanca has its own walled city or medina although some vacationers think that the ones in Fes and Marrakech are better.
There are numerous things which you can do while you are in the city like joining a local football game, strolling along the beach or just watching people go by while enjoying an ice cream or iced milk tea sold in small stalls. Shopping, of course, is a favorite pastime of tourists here. You do need to learn how to haggle so that you can get the best deal.
Prices of hotels in Casablanca range from $70 to $250 a night. It is relatively cheaper than in Marrakech but you can find budget hostels and guesthouses for only $20 or less. There are dozens of really good restaurants here as well but one place which you should definitely go to is Rick’s Café which is based on the famous movie.
Going around the city is made so much more convenient because different modes of transport are available. You can get on a bus, tram, and taxi. Of course, if you want to discover more, go walking instead. Since this is one of the most visited places in the country, you will need to reserve your plane tickets way ahead of time. And if you are patient and industrious enough, finding cheap flights to Casablanca is not that difficult.
