Cheap Flights to Carcavelos

The Portuguese parish of Carcavelos is located in Cascais municipality, about 12 km away from Lisbon. It is also located near Tejo River’s mouth, making it an ideal beach destination for tourists. Every year, many people take cheap flights to Carcavelos to enjoy the sand, surf and sun at the Carcavelos beach. In fact, much of the fame of the parish rests on the great surfing conditions it promises and many surfers vouch for.

At one point of time, the wine available at Carcavelos was quite famed and tourists used to catch cheap flights to Carcavelos only to get a taste of it. But with time, wine production has considerably reduced but still some of the wines that are produced are quite celebrated.

A huge fortification is located to the east of Carcavelos beach and this fortification is known as Forte de Sao Juliao da Barra; it was used for extending protection against enemy ships at the entrance of Tejo River. Its current purpose of usage is as the Ministry of Defence’s official summer residence.

While booking hotels in Carcavelos, most people try to book one that is as near to the Carcavelos beach as possible. This wide beach extends from Carcavelos entrance to the fortress of Sao Juliao da Barra. It integrates two sandy areas – one in front of Bar dos Gemeos which is quite famous and the other is the Moinho beach. This beach is Estoril Coast’s most extensive sandy beach; the popularity of the place is so high that it remains crowded during summer and even during weekdays.

There are several facilities available in the beach and mainly youngsters, families, locals and practitioners of body board and surf frequent the beach. Several sport events are also held there like Beach Volley and beach rugby. Basketball courts and skates are available in the parking lot. Another important and attractive feature of the Carcavelos beach is the shifting sandbars.

After finishing with the sightseeing tour of the parish, tourists can move towards Cascais municipality which has several interesting places and beaches to explore. Europe’s largest casino namely Estoril Casino is located there which can be visited.
