About Calgary

If you’re looking to travel to a city with a heritage of excellent winter sports, a variety of historical and cultural attractions, as well as a rich and varied urban city life, Calgary is an excellent travel destination. The first city in Canada to host the Olympics, Calgary is perhaps best known for its love of winter sports-with the Canadian Winter Olympic athletes training in the vicinity. If you’re set on hitting the slopes or getting better glance at the city, there are a number of cheap flight options available for consideration.

In Calgary, you’ll find a number of parks and resorts, with skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and tubing, with many child-friendly options available at most parks and resorts. So if you’d like to follow in the footsteps of former and current Olympians, Calgary is your premier place in Canada to ski! In spring and summer, most of these parks and resorts are still open, and feature parks, gardens, horseback riding, hiking trails, fishing and many water sports for your enjoyment. No matter what time of year you travel to Calgary, the choices to stay physically active are truly limitless.

Heritage Park is Canada’s ‘largest living history museum,’ and is a chance to visit a real-life operating village from the 1860’s. Complete with a replica of a fur-trading post, horse ranch and small town, Heritage Park is an excellent place to take the entire family. Complete with boat cruises, train rides and rides like a giant wooden Ferris Wheel, Calgary shows visitors how the old west was fun! There are also a number of ongoing special events, like dinners, brewing courses and canning workshops, so be sure to check their website prior to scheduling a visit.

Prince’s Park is another local favorite, a charming urban park complete with scenic views, rivers and hiking trails. There are also children’s parks, flower gardens as well as canoeing and ice skating in the winter. If you’re looking for a romantic place to have a picnic, or just wander around with the kids, Prince’s Park is close to downtown Calvary, but far enough to feel like a world away. We also have great deals for European destinations like cheap flights to Lyon

If you’re in Calgary and prefer more urban excitement, the Downtown area is a prime destination for excellent restaurants, prime shopping and plenty of things to see and do, like performing art centers, museums and gardens. One of the best shopping spots in the city is Stephen Avenue Walk, a pedestrian only shopping paradise. Men, have no fear though, on Stephen Avenue Walk there are plenty of artists, street entertainers and trendy coffee shops to jaunt into.

While you’re downtown, check out Calgary Tower, the home to the largest 360 degree observation tower in the world, at 626 ft. up in the air. The tower is also a great place to grab a bite, check out some art and get a better view of the city from up high.
