The city is also called as the gateway to the northern part of the country and hence, Cabanatuan City is an important link to the economic, educational, transportation hubs of the country. Cabanatuan City played a major role in the revolution of the Filipinos in ousting the Spaniards and freeing the country from Spanish rule.

Most of the buses are air conditioned and with the newly constructed SCTEX (a new expressway in the Central Luzon), the travel time from Quezon City to Cabanatuan City is just 3 hours.
