Brecht is a Belgian municipality situated pretty close to the Dutch border in Antwerp, a prominent province in Belgium. It is known for its Abbey of Our Lady of Nazareth. It is an abbey located in Brecht in the famous Campine region, belonging to the Trappistine nuns. The monastery of Our Lady of Nazareth situated at Lier was acknowledged and placed in the Cistercian Order in the year 1236. The abbey prospered for five hundred years till 1797. Carolus Borromeus Church, a distinctive Baroque church, was constructed during the period (1615-1621) by the Jesuits. Rubens is believed to have designed its striking façade.
