Bettembourg is a town and commune in southern Luxembourg, which has a total population of below 10,000 people. Though it is quite a small town, there is no dearth of tourist attractions in it. For booking cheap flights to Bettembourg, you have to avail the Luxembourg-Findel Airport which is only 14 km away. Interestingly, the town has a rich Roman past and several Roman sites have been discovered in and around it in all these years.
Bettembourg Castle, a major landmark in Bettembourg, is located right in the middle of the town off Rue de Chateau. It was first constructed in 1773 as the abode of a rich farming family. The castle is more elaborate now since several additional wings have been added over the years by the different families who owned it. The commune bought the castle in 1971 and restored it in order to serve as the town hall from 1991. Some of the public parts can be accessed by visitors, particularly the large cultural hall which often plays host to art exhibitions and similar events. Tourists can experience the well manicured grounds which surround the castle along with some of the original elaborate wooden fireplaces.
The church is a huge and imposing structure which was constructed in 1888 following the neo-Romanesque architectural style. The building looks more like a cathedral than a church owing to its tall roofline. Parc Merveilleux is another wonder worth booking cheap flights to Bettembourg for. It is a small amusement park which offers a wide range of attractions including a miniature railway, children’s cars, adventure playgrounds, a pony ranch and a number of animals and birds. This park is particularly meant for children and so does not include any thrill rides.
It is always advisable to book hotels in Bettembourg in summers because you can get a warm weather perfect for sightseeing and traveling around. However, rain is a constant in every season. July should be avoided because it is the hottest month. Since all attractions do not remain open throughout the year, it is better to check details before making arrangement for a holiday in Bettembourg.
