About Belas

The Portuguese town of Belas is located in Sintra municipality between mountains some of which are small while others are more rugged. Lisbon is only at a distance of 10 minutes. The town is interspersed with several valleys and fertilised by plenty of water. Historically and archaeologically, the town is quite important with several traces of human existence from various pre-historic ages being found there. The Waters Farm Bread is a must visit place with its agricultural annexes, gates, source, gardens and noble house. The Palace Royal Belas or fifth Marquis is an important historical and cultural piece of architecture which supposedly was a farm belonging to the knight Goncalo Anes Correia during the early 14th century. The palace changed hands a lot of time due to a multitude of turmoil.

Other must visit places of attractions are Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Church Belas, Monument Fire and megalithic monuments scattered at many places. The sculpture called Monument Fire is the work of Bottelho and has elements of water, concrete and bronze.

A big attraction that must not be missed at any cost is the Belas Clube de Campo which is a masterpiece of Rocky Roquemore. Those who love golfing should visit this beautiful place which is the ultimate dream of any golf player who likes challenges.
