Barendrecht is a Rotterdam suburb in the South Holland province of the Netherlands. A medium-sized town with all the amenities of the big city around the corner and the benefits of a green, friendly and vibrant community, it is a popular tourist draw especially with plenty of cheap flights to Barendrecht; the Rotterdam Airport is just 26 km away.

The old town of Barendrecht retains its heritage character; the centre is a designated protected village, because of its valuable historical and socio-cultural significance. The Oude Maas Hill is an artificial hill that arose during the construction of the Barendrecht part of the suburb Middle IJsselmonde. The 36-meter high water tower in the old town makes up the silhouette of Barendrecht and is a fine example of the regional architecture. In Barendrecht, you will find many public works of art. These range from monuments and photo walls to bronze sculptures.
The Carnisse Grienden, a freshwater tide landscape with a unique flora and fauna, is best viewed from the top of the Oude Maas Heuvel. Weaver Corner, a small and secluded recreation area along the Waal on the boundary of Ridderkerk and Barendrecht provide good boating and canoeing. Barendrecht features a variety of shops; the Middenbaan is the central shopping area while excellent indoor shopping can be enjoyed at Carnisse Veste.
